Spending time at summer camp is a pretty good time for many children as is shown by the fact they send their own children back there year after year. Here are a few things that they are likely to remember and hope their own kids experience. Sitting Out On The Balcony Many hours are spent at summer camp taking part in all sorts of fun and exciting activities. However, when children aren't doing something organised then they are left to their own devices and will often decide to chill on their cabins' balconies or porches. Often these balconies or porches are covered by some sort of fabric awning which blocks out a lot of natural light meaning that they don't get too badly burned - after all it is the height of summer and often children will spend a lot of time in the sun the rest of the day so it's good for them to get a break. While on the balcony relaxing the children will often spend a lot of time talking to each other, giving them the opportunity to build friendships and develop relationships. Over the years these can grow and many lifelong friendships start at summer camp. Meeting The Opposite Sex Although most children go to co-ed schools these days, there are a few that don't and summer camp gives them opportunity to mingle with the opposite sex much more than when they see their sister or brother at home and they have their friends round. At summer camp they will find some of their curiosities answered as they find out about the other sex - how they act and behave and what they like and stay away from. For some it can be a tough experience, but experience it is and a great training ground for chatting up the opposite sex in future years. Finding A New Hobby At summer camp you get to take part in a whole range of activities which wouldn't necessarily normally be of terribly much interest. However, by trying something new out you can find that actually do like it and this can lead to a new hobby being found and enjoyed which could be practiced the rest of the year. As you can see there are many ways in which children can enjoy their time at summer camp, and many reason why when they grow up they send their own kids off to enjoy their summer that way.
