Any kind of dedicated biker will know of the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. If you haven't ever heard about it but you are hooked on motorcycle rallies, you should definitely attend a Sturgis Rally. Since 1938 this rally has been taking place, and it continues to grow in popularity every year. The best cyclists from just about everywhere come to Sturgis, South Dakota to take part in the spectacular Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. Lots of families from throughout the country make it a tradition to attend the Sturgis Rally every year. Families from across the country travel together on their motorcycles and get together with other enthusiasts to enjoy the events and entertainment. The few days in Sturgis tend to be packed with fun for a lot of families and the travel there is just as fun. This particular rally happens in August so it is important to mark your calendars. It's advisable that you plan before you go because it's very popular. To sleep, you can bring a tent along or you can stay at a motel. There are regulations of conduct at this rally due to the large volume of people that attend. You should be all set for this, as you are urged to come, but know that there are fines for fighting, public intoxication, indecent exposure, disorderly conduct and careless driving. Of course, you will find zero tolerance for usage of any illegal drugs. Every night there will be great shows, along with plenty of food, fun and motorcycle activities. Sturgis also offers many places to spend time and keep you entertained if you are outside of the rally. In route to Sturgis, you need to realize that each state you will be traveling through has their own laws for motorcycles. Within South Dakota, they are typically very stringent when you violate common traffic laws. You should invest time to learn exactly what they are so that you will never get caught and forced to pay a fine. Every last motorcycle needs to have at least one headlight and a maximum of two. At least one tail light must be in functioning order, in addition to mandatory helmet wearing for anyone under 18. Also the shoulders of the person operating the bike are required to be higher than the handle bars. The rider and operator should have eye protection, which should not be tinted after dark. Mufflers will also be mandatory for all motorcycles to lower noise. All operators without a valid license for motorcycles, will probably have their motorcycle impounded. If you are a die hard motorcycle enthusiast, then you should not miss out on the great Sturgis Rally. Everybody really should experience the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally at least one time.
