Don't Use Your Vehicle's Air Conditioner To Conserve Gas

Most drivers today are seeking ways to cut down on fuel expenses as the price of gas goes up. Thankfully, there are simple ways to help the driver limit the amount of fuel they use. The majority of these don't actually cost anything, and it is easy to just make a few simple changes while driving to enjoy these benefits.

The worst thing you could possibly do is purchase products that claim to improve gas mileage since many are unproven. So far, based on the EPA, none of these treatments have been proven to work. It is best to steer clear of products that depend on gimmicks and tall tales to make a sale. An easy way to save on fuel, that is only essential at certain times, would be to leave the air conditioner off. It has been demonstrated that the car doesn't have as much power or responsiveness when the air conditioner is switched on. The air conditioning taxes the engine's performance and the fuel consumption will decrease. Barring any possible heatstroke, you could probably leave the air conditioner off most of the the time.

Even if you may forfeit the comfort of driving, you will be saving money on gas for sure. This kind of conserving may be off-putting for many drivers since it is quite comfortable to drive with the air conditioner on. There was a time when cars or trucks didn't have air conditioners at all. To help minimize the discomfort, you could drive during much cooler times of the day. Should you not have a pretty inflexible schedule, you should be able to accomplish, at least some of your driving, during the cooler times of day. You can probably complete a lot of your driving in the early mornings or evenings.

You can just drive having the windows rolled down, letting in a nice cool breeze, particularly when you are out on the highway. You'll be able to remember the days prior to air conditioners when the breeze was all that kept you cool. While there'll be some knock in fuel efficiency with the windows down, it does not compare to the cost of using the air conditioner. If you actually want to trim expenses on fuel, you may have to deal with the intense heat of summer as well. Quite a few drivers are actually quite spoiled with the comforts found in cars today and forget that these features never existed before. The typical present day driver will not be aware of what it was like before. With times being so unstable, we have to sacrifice on comfort so that we have enough for food on the table.

You may not have the ability to think about the end goal when driving in a hot car. However, once you see that your gasoline cost is going down, it should keep you motivated. Simply by not switching on the air conditioner except if it is absolutely necessary will save you money on gas.
