Speech therapy is a vitally important service in the lives of many people. Communication is such a key factor in being able to get by in everyday life and have real independence. When someone has serious speech problems that make basic communication difficult or even impossible, it can cause a good deal of frustration and take away much of their freedom. Speech therapy jobs consist of teaching people with speech problems how to communicate to the best of their ability. The problem may be developmental or due to an accident or health issue like a stroke, and it is the speech therapist's job to set out a treatment plan and implement it.
