Basic human qualities like empathy are also an important part of occupational therapy jobs. You will perform your job with greater understanding and effectiveness if you're able to really feel what the patient is feeling. It's also important for an occupational therapist to be creative and to meet challenges head on. Occupational therapy jobs will provide one challenge after another, so the ability for a therapist to rise to each one and respond creatively and with enthusiasm is one of the keys to success. Speech therapy jobs, physical therapy jobs or school therapy jobs for any occupational therapist will always provide a challenging environment to practice your skills. Regardless of whether you're trying to teach a patient to speak properly, re-learn basic work skills, fold laundry or do his banking, there will always be a problem and a challenge that needs a solution.
