How to Wear Different Heights of Stylish Heels

Stylish heels are seriously fun. Every woman has them in their closets and often in a variety of heights. Choosing the height of heels has everything to do with comfort and aesthetics; it's really up to you and what you feel you can wear comfortably, as well as what you think looks good. Of course, if you enjoy the variety of heights in stylish heels, you may want to know what heel heights you should wear with different outfits.

Kitten heels are the lowest of the heels, usually only about 1 to 2 inches high. These heels have come back in popularity more recently with the First Lady and celebrities. Since more big names are wearing them again, women are more apt to have them in their closet. Kitten heels are incredibly comfortable heels, best for those who don't wear heels often, or who want something easy for the daytime. They are great with work wear, especially with long work pants, because you'll be able to stay on your feet all day without worry of pain. If you are going to wear a dress or skirt with these heels, its hem should either reach the knees or go slightly past them. If the hem is too long, your shoes will look unbalanced with the outfit and if they are too short, you might look like a little girl.

Wearing mid-range heels in the 2 ½ to 3 1/2 range are popular in general. Those are the heels you usually see on the street. These fashion heels can be pair with plenty of outfits because the heels are balanced with the rest of the shoe. Whether you wear skinny jeans or a mini skirt, they'll look great. The real decision here is about whether to wear open or closed toe, depending on the outfit (and the time of year!).

High heels are four inches in length or longer; they are worn strictly for aesthetic purposes. They've been called the "jewelry of the feet", because a 6 inch heel is going to attract serious attention when you walk down the block. It'll also take a lot of great muscle strength to keep walking in them! These types of heels look best in long pants or skirts that hit the knee. Anything shorter than that and your look might be a little too provocative or costume-like. These kinds of shoe are not recommended for everyone as they can be very difficult to wear for the inexperienced.
