Website Design Software - Choose The Right One

If you need a website built, you have a couple options available to you. Of course, you can turn to a professional web designer to do the job; however, this could end up costing more than you can afford. Your second option is to jump in on your own and try your hand at web design.

While creating a website can seem pretty daunting, there are many excellent software options available to help streamline the process. Some require a bit of know-how, but there are a variety of programs created specifically for beginners that require little or no previous training.

Here are some of the best software options available to a designer just starting out in web design:

WordPress

WordPress is the go-to choice not only for beginners, but also for many seasoned developers. The ease of use and fantastic content management system (CMS) make WordPress an excellent tool for building websites. WordPress also offers a surprising amount of flexibility in design and development, making it very useful for even more complex or feature-heavy sites.

Not only is WordPress an incredible piece of software, it's also absolutely free!

XSitePro 2

XSitePro 2 is basically an all-in-one website creation package that is designed for easy website building. While you won't be able to build dynamic sites, this is a great tool for beginners because it requires virtually no knowledge of coding. The program comes with quite an array of useful tools and features, as well as some decent templates to get you started.

This option isn't quite as user-friendly as WordPress, and the interface does take a little getting used to, but overall the software is quite effective. With very little time and effort, you could have a nice website up and running.

90 Second Website Builder

If you need a site quickly and don't want to spend much time or money, this is definitely a good option. This website builder requires absolutely no HTML knowledge. Essentially, the entire site can be built by dragging and dropping your elements in place. Once you've got the page set up as you like it, the program will generate the HTML for you.

Obviously, a program like this is somewhat limited, so you wouldn't use it in a professional capacity; however, for personal, small-scale websites, this would be a time- and cost-effective solution.

Joomla

Like WordPress, Joomla is an open-source (free) content management system and website building tool. It is quite easy to use, and once your site is up, the CMS allows for easy updating and content management. Joomla (or WordPress) is a great springboard if you're considering web design on a larger scale. A CMS will get you started on the right track, while providing the flexibility to stretch and do more as your skill grows.
