The Mystery of Sleep: From Health Benefits to a Naturepedic Mattress

Sleep may be the cousin of death, but it's also where you spent about a third of your life. It's highly recommended to sleep between seven and eight hours a night, or else you can run into fatigue, irritability, and other health problems down the road.

A good night's sleep prevents cancer, cardiovascular disease, and weight gain. It makes you look younger and more refreshed; it improves memory and can prevent colds, and it makes it easier to hit the gym. Unfortunately most people sleep for less than eight hours a night, and some people get by on less than six.

If you fall into one of these categories, you're probably saying, "But it's so hard for me to get into bed and fall asleep before midnight, and then I have to wake up so early." This may be true, but there's no pride in being an insomniac. Choose a time to get into bed and mentally prepare yourself for an hour beforehand. Do something quiet, like reading, or watching TV, drink a cup of chamomile tea, and get ready. If after trying to fall asleep for twenty minutes you still can't, get up and read on a couch - as long as you don't associate being in bed with being awake.

No one really knows why we sleep. Some guess that it's to recharge our batteries, others suppose it's a kind of digestion period for our minds, but whatever it is, we certainly do dream. For centuries people have attributed meaning to their dreams, which allow all of your waking hours to manifest themselvesin symbols and hidden forms. Dream analysis can be a great way to come to terms with recent changes and high stress in your life.

Sleep is pleasurable and it's free. You may, however, desire a specific kind of mattress to rest easier. A Naturepedic mattress or any kind of mattress that offers you lower back support is a good choice. Some people prefer firmer mattresses, which are better for those with back problems, while others prefer softer mattresses. Form-molding foam is a good way to keep your mattress fresh; it works especially well with regard to pillows, which are a crucial aspect of comfortable sleep. Since you spend so much time on your mattress, don't be afraid to invest a little extra. And start your baby out on the rightmattress so she'll be a good sleeper for life. Organic crib mattresses are a better way of encouraging infants to sleep. And Naturepedic is also good for children and young adults.

Overall, when you get a full night of sleep you will look and feel better. People will notice that you're in a good mood, that there are no bags under your eyes, and that you are a better conversationalist. You will be up for any challenge that presents itself.
