Website makers both advanced and novice will undoubtedly be happy to know that there are still plenty of free website creation tools out there along with free website hosts. Before you get started, let's discuss a few different tools that you might use to enhance your web design experience.

Notepad and Notepad ++

Notepad and its various spin-offs are great website creation tools, and you will generally find that some of the more advanced versions are created specifically for the creation of HTML. Before you choose to utilize one of these however it would be a good idea to familiarize yourself with the syntax and the various formatting options.

Graphical Interface

Free webpage design software goes much further than using basic HTML editors and basic notepad applications. Website makers do acknowledge the fact that the free editors do not have the same options or level of support that the paid versions (Macromedia Dreamweaver, Microsoft Frontpage), but those who have adequate experience in webpage creation will generally find it acceptable. One major issue that some of the free software has is simply that they cannot generate entire websites. This can be worked around however by creating individual pages and linking them together within the homepage. As long as you remember to link each page back to the home page or at least use a navigation frame/bar, this situation can certainly be remedied.

Web Based Creation

If you aren't in the mood to deal with HTML code then you could always try using some of the web based creation software. Most of this software is simply drag and drop or point and click, but it will also be proprietary. There will be certain widgets and content items that will only work so long as you are using it with a specific service.

This is not always true of course as some website makers will be able to tell you. Cloud based software is becoming more and more popular which means quite a bit of design work will be done on the server side in the future -- especially for non-corporate users.

There are many more options for web design now than there were in days past. With that being the case you have quite the choice to make, and you can literally design anything you want. There are so many different applications and plugins at your disposal, which also means that impressing potential customers will be much more difficult. After all, anyone can create a website, and almost anyone can master the art of aesthetics, and therefore anyone can attract customers if they try. You need to stand out from the rest and ultimately become the best in web design.
