You can list more than just the personal checks you use too! It is also the easiest way to find discrepancies between your bank statements and your personal records of expenses. Make sure you do them every month and that you store all of your financial records someplace safe. that last thing that you need is to lose anything along the way, especially when you put all that effort in to making sure you kept your records. Another way to stay on top of your funds is simply by staying informed of economic trends. Read the papers and start watching television shows devoted to the topic. Sometimes the local news will give you saving tips with the daily report as a segment. however you do your research, stay on top of the value of your money and where you currently stand in the economy. Also, start using personal checks instead of relying on credit. You would be amazed just how many problems start with relying too heavily on credit and not being able to pay it back. There are absolutely no reasons whatsoever why you need to make that little rectangular piece of plastic melt. Consider using checks because you will only be able to use them based on the current amount you currently have in your account. You will realize that cash and blank check stock are your friends because you need to start using them wisely. And while you're at it, tabulate how much you can spend on items per month. Allot a percentage to necessities like groceries, bills, and work commute. Put smaller chunks toward wants such as new clothing, coffee, and entertainment. You may like to set up your online banking account to automate savings and payments. If you haven't already it is time to start having them send you email notifications or text messages notifying you of your balance.
