Conspiracy theories are enjoying a vogue right now not seen since the days of the Vietnam War. Just turn on C-Span when Ron Paul is giving a speech and you are sure to be exposed to some zany theories about how the CIA smuggles drugs, gold is only legal tender, and Muslims are tunneling into the White House. If you are anything like me, you are worried about the future of America as a whole and of your finances. You should consider starting a Roth IRA to protect your finances. Then again, your money may be worthless in the future so maybe burying bars of gold in your backyard is a better solution. A wealth manger can advise you on the merits of both. Wealth managers may not agree about which investments are a safe bet, but at least they can clue you in as to your options. Financial advisers are not tied to one of the super banks (Citi Bank, Bank of America) who try to screw you out of your savings, steal your house, and step on your grandma's throat to get a dime. They are impartial and are tuned into the changing political and fiscal climate. They can help you avoid fiscal calamity. The key is to avoid large financial institutions (who are in on the conspiracy to bankrupt America) and choose smaller wealth management firms (who are unwittingly helping the bigger agencies kill the country). This may seem dismal to you, but in the future when .01% of the population accounts for 75% of the nation's wealth, you will want to be in the .01%. If you can't beat 'em join 'em. If you are slightly more optimistic (you aren't stocking up on bibles, guns, and gold), then a financial planner can help you meet your retirement goals. I may very well be proven wrong, and boy will my face be red when I turn 65 and have nothing in the bank (on second thought that won't be too different than the position I am in today). Wealth management consultants are not only for the super wealthy, they are for those among us who dream of being super wealthy. If you want to be rich, you have to act rich. Having someone help you invest your money can also help. So when you think of the future, what do you see? If you see a tiny minority of extremely wealthy people running the country (you may be looking at America today), you will want to be among them. A wealth manager can make that happen.
