Trying to move out of mom and dads? Are you ready to be out there on your own? Is your lease up and you hate your current apartment? It's time to start the housing hunt. Don't be fooled into thinking that you need someone else to do the hunting for you. Finding a no fee apartment is not difficult. Websites that feature listings for no fee apartments are going to be your biggest asset. Why would you want to pay more for your dream apartment than you have to? No fee apartments are plentiful and with websites that offer listings with nothing but apartments with no broker fees, there's no excuse to not search out the best one. So you've found a place, now what? It is likely that you are going to have to go through a credit check process. This process usually costs you a little bit of money and is non-refundable. You also pay a security deposit to the landlord, and a few months rent. Yes, it's possible to find no fee apartments that do not require several months rent to move in. These are generally in lesser desirable neighborhoods and this is their way of making the offer more enticing to potential renters. While there are some diamonds in the rough, make sure you check out the neighborhoods for access to transportation and other various necessities before moving in. My advice to you is to do your own credit check. You really should know your credit score anyway. If your credit is not very good you will need a co-signer or guarantor. Guarantors generally have harsher guidelines for renting. They usually must make anywhere from forty to one hundred times the monthly rent on a yearly basis. A lot of times, they must also live in the tri-state area. This is another reason to do your own credit check. If you find you need a guarantor, you will know in advance and be able to ask them for their information well ahead of time. This will speed up the application process and get you moved in much quicker to your rental apartment. There's a lot of paperwork already involved here but it's not a bad idea to get character references and professional references as well. These will help to sway a landlord even if your credit is borderline. With these tips, you should be out of your mom's basement in no time.
