Now, you can hop online and check out reviews on a variety of sites. People are much more honest when they can post anonymously, so you'll get real reviews you know are truthful.
You can also check out a company's website, as any reliable appliance repair business will have one. It should look like it was put together professionally; a big red flag is an eyesore of a website. It should also include all the information you need: hours of operation, contact phone numbers and e-mail, where they service, what appliances they fix, and an idea of price.
When you call the appliance repair business, don't just call and make an appointment right away. Take the time to ask them questions, figure out if they are really the right fit for you. Even if they are coming in just once, you want to be sure that one experience is going to be satisfactory. And who knows, if something else breaks along the way, then you'll already have a reliable appliance repair company that you love and can go back to for future issues.
So do the right thing before you hire an appliance repair business. Don't make the mistake that my mother made by just hiring the first name and number you see. You should be getting the best repair for your time and money.
