Medical record storage is important for any medical office. Those documents are the most important part of your whole business. Without all those records, you don't have your clients' information, you don't have the knowledge of what each is ailing from, their medications, their allergies, their past health history. Everything on those pieces of paper are what keep your business going, so you don't make mistakes in treating the patient with the wrong medication and you have their contact information on file in case of emergencies. Medical record storage isn't always easy to do in your own office. It may be that you don't have the space in your offices, or it could be that you don't feel they are safely stored there. After all, medical records are extremely sensitive materials and confidential, meant to be seen only by a doctor. You don't want them getting into the hands of someone who isn't a professional. It's a breach of patient/doctor confidentiality which can get your offices in a ton of trouble. You can get document storage set up off site if need be. There are plenty of delivery services which also offer document storage options, since they have the space in their warehouses. The benefit of this option is that you can also have them delivered from these warehouses to whomever needs to see them, whether you are forwarding them to specialist or just moving them into a new office that you'll be occupying, it's easy to know that with a quick call you can get them sent to wherever you need to. When setting up storage, you should talk with the company to find out where it is being stored and if you will have easy access to it, or access at all. Some places allow you to go in and access it from wherever you have it, but others will have to send it directly to you to take a look at it. If you want to have the best access you can, see what you can work out with them. You should also discuss with them insurance and coverage in case anything should happen to your medical records. All kinds of damage can happen, from water to fire, to getting ruined in actually shipments. Find out what's covered, if you pay extra for it or if it is a part of the over all fee. Make the right inquiries so you get the best deal!
