While some of us find comfort hibernating most of the winter, others see these next few months as ample opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors. Granted it means wearing big puffy jackets and about a half dozen layers, but now is the time for glorious winter sports. From snowboarding to skiing to ice skating, there are plenty of activities to keep you occupied during the winter, even if it does mean venturing out into the cold.
Those fortunate enough to live near a massive mountain range don't have to travel far, but the rest of us need to flee urban living by way of a charter bus to find the ideal resorts and lodges for our winter fun. Considering the fact that most ideal spots tend to be somewhere in the boondocks, a charter bus is an ideal mode of transportation. There is no need to worry about driving through ice and snow nor paying and exorbitant amount for a plane ticket. Charter buses can take you to all your ideal destinations, including the ski resorts of Pennsylvania and Vermont on the East Coast or Aspen, Colorado out west.
Just about every resort will offer skiing, snow tubing, snowboarding, and any other winter sport that involves a mountain of snow. Colorado is obviously the ideal spot. Aspen is legendary, but that also means it's the most expensive. Aspen has four unlinked mountains that are ideal for any level skier. But many resorts cater to the wealthy. You can still stay in the state but choose Vail instead. It's home to the second largest resort in the States with the single largest mountain ski area. Not straying too far from the Midwest, there is Park City Utah full of steep mountains and 500 inches of snowfall each season. Be wary of tourists for the Sundance Film Festival who setup shop in the area. Jackson, Wyoming is also home to some steep mountain ranges with one of the highest vertical drops of 4,140 feet. Big Sky, Montana features six-mile long runs and a 4,350 feet vertical drop. It's one of the few places in the Rocky Mountains that hasn't become overrun.
For the East coasters looking not to stray too far on their charter bus trip, try Stowe, Vermont. They typically get about 22 feet of snow each season, making it quite a long one. Stowe is located on Mount Mansfield, Vermont's highest mountain. Lake Placid, New York isn't a bad option either, and no there is no need to fear scary crocodiles. Enjoy the beauty of the Adirondack Mountains. With the right gear in tow, you can enjoy a great winter season on the slopes with the help of a charter bus to get you there safely.
