Greece Via Europe Airline Tickets

[Valid RSS feed]  Category Rss Feed - http://www.nextlevelarticles.com/rss.php?rss=53
By : Mark Etinger    Greece is experiencing some serious trouble in the Euro Zone, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Prices are pretty low, and now is a pretty good time to buy Europe airline tickets. Once arrive, there's a lot to do. Read on to learn more. If you plan to visit during the winter, the off-season, you can expect things to be significantly less crowded, which can be a good thing or a bad thing. For example, the small island of Hydra, a contemporary art locale, only shows its colors during the summer. In the winter, it reverts back to a dreamy beachscape, with a population of fewer than 3,000. Salonika, or Thessaloniki as it is known in Greek, is widely known as the country's cultural capital. It's also the capital of the region of Macedonia. With galleries and Muslim and Sephardic Jewish monuments, this city has plenty to do and see. If you plan on island hopping, allow for plenty of time to get back to your destination city. Bus and ferry schedules can be capricious, especially during the winter. It may be tricky finding a way to island hop, but that is part of the journey. Lesbos, Crete and Corinth are all beautiful towns worth visiting but if you're not careful, you may find a dead end and have to reroute your entire trip. Mykonos is a party island and a ferry hub. But once you're on an island you may have to drive. Car rentals and scooter rentals are a great way to get around, but you may need an international driver's license, which is $15 at any AAA office. Allow for plenty of time to get back to Athens to make use of your Europe airline tickets to another country or back home. Athens is home to the Acropolis, the National Archaeological Museum, the Tower of the Winds and the ruins of the Roman Forum, the Ancient Agora. The Plaka is an old neighborhood with cozy ouzeries. Psiri is a fun party neighborhood definitely worth checking out one night. The Temple of Poseidon at Sounion which is an hour away and right on the coast, is definitely worth visiting. There are so many places and things to see in Greece that it can be hard choosing dates for your European airline tickets. It's impossible to see everything, but whatever you do see, you'll remember for a long time.
