Jewish Marriage Counseling With Laughter

I'm not really sure when it happened but it did. Marriage counseling has become somewhat of a taboo topic. It could have started out of the women's liberation movement back with the Dick Van Dyke show when Mary Tyler Moore began wearing pants. This small rebellion might have begun a period of breaking free and being able to voice a woman's unhappiness in the home.

Yes, women can be unhappy and they can show it. No, they can't all be June Cleaver or Mary Tyler Moore. Those are fictional television characters. They didn't require marriage advice. They didn't need to hide from their neighbors where they were going with their husbands on that night when they went to Jewish marriage counseling.

Quite frankly, you don't have to hide it either. Sure, you're not a fictional person so you can have marriage counseling questions! You can seek out marriage advice from someone who knows how to help you fix it.

You're allowed to have problems. Everyone does. There does not need to be this terrible stigma about marriage counseling. In fact, it's a sign that you want to work on your relationship and make it stronger. Were you aware that over 75% of couples who seek marriage advice are better off than similar couples who did not receive marriage counseling.

There is no evidence to indicate that those who seek treatment are harmed at all in the process! In fact, there is a great success rate for those who are seeking marriage advice.

There is however a personal stigma attached to marriage counseling. This is something that you need to rise above. If you are seeking advice from a trained professional, it does not mean that you are giving up on your relationship. It does not mean that you are seeking closure. It does not mean that there is no such thing as true love. What it means is that everyone has problems. It means you are striving and willing to work hard to work to protect the love you and your partner shared at the beginning of your relationship. It means you want another chance to start again.

Who cares what Mr. & Mrs. Next door know that you're going to Jewish marriage counseling? Like I stated before, everyone has problems, even them. You are going to be freer, happier, and have a stronger marriage if you decide to get help when you know you really need it.
