When the holidays come around, people seem to go a little crazy. Thoughts of gifts, visiting relatives, and decorating the house come forefront in their minds and little things like trash and recycling day completely slip through the cracks. This is why the holidays are very stressful times for so many people. Many just need reminders of their surroundings, of important dates, and so on and so forth. If you are a board member for a community or a homeowner's association, this is the perfect time to utilize those outdoor message boards to their full potential! Here are a few tips to what would be very helpful during the holiday season and that you need your fellow homeowners to remember even in their holiday stupor. First, put up gentle friendly reminders about things they might already know. This can include things like what day they need to put out their trash or what days recycling pick up is. These, as I mentioned before, are things that can simply slip your mind during the busy season. Second, you might want to put out notices about rules that apply only during the holidays. Most homeowner's associations have rules about holiday décor. You may want to post these in a prominent place like an outdoor message board. Other things to post might be when, where, and how to get rid of things like Christmas trees. Remember also that the holidays are times that visitors usually show up to their relative's houses. If you have special parking spaces or rules like only two spaces per home or alternate side parking, be sure that these rules are posted for the new visitors to see and abide by. Lastly, there are also weather related notices that need to be observed around these times. If the plow comes by at certain times, you need to be able to alert people of the time and place so they may move their cars and make sure they don't get blocked in. Also, you should make sure that there is an emergency evacuation plan put in place in case there is a huge blizzard. Outdoor message boards are very important as vehicles of information. This is especially true if you have a lot of people that you need to get information out to en mass. During the holidays, your outdoor message board becomes even more important than other times of the year!
