It has been 9 months and now you finally get to bring home your adorable little baby after you have given birth. You are most likely very excited about putting brand new pictures in those baby-themed picture frames which so many of your friends and family have given to you during your pregnancy. In fact, you likely want to fill dozens of picture frames with photos of your little one, capturing his every waking moment (and perhaps throw in a few photos of him sleeping, simply for good measure). Newborn babies can be difficult to photograph since their attention span is not very developed and their moods can change very quickly. The baby that is happy and grinning one moment may be wiggling and crying the next. However, you do not need to worry. You will find plenty of opportunities to take some great pictures in the weeks (as well as months and years) that are to come. If you wish to get some photos that are worth placing in picture frames, then follow the tips below: • Know your gear. Many new moms buy a brand new camera just before the baby is born. Be sure to read the handbook for your camera and get familiar with its settings even if it is not a recent purchase. Test out the camera, and pay specific attention to its zooming capabilities and the wide angle. Check and see that the battery is charged up all the way, and that the camera is equipped with a good big memory card. • Get the baby in a good mood. This should not be too hard for practically any baby if it has had enough sleep, has got a full tummy, and also has a dry diaper. Make sure that wherever you are taking the pictures is warm and comfy since a baby this young can get cold easily. It's important that you find some props to help you with holding the baby up such as pillows, blankets, and any other things that are good and baby friendly and soft. If you have someone else to assist you with supporting the baby while taking photos, that can be really good. • Pick a location that's nice and brightly lit for your baby's photo session. Keep any background or props on the simple side, like a solid blanket. Clothe your baby in simple clothing, since any bright colors or designs can take attention away from the true focus of the photo. • Be sure to take lots and lots of pictures. The nicest thing about a digital camera is that you can take as many pictures as you would like to and then take out the ones you would like to, without having to be sparing with the pictures you take. Always take the original photos in color, and then if you wish to change them to sepia or black and white afterwards then you can. • Take lots of candid shots without planning the shot. Why shouldn't a picture of your baby with wet tears and a sad face be perfect for putting on your desk in a picture frame? There are numerous times when the most unplanned shots are the best! So keep these suggestions in mind throughout your newborn photoshoot and you will be sure to have some great results.
