There can be times when teaching kids to keep their own rooms clean can seem like a fight. Many little children as well as teenagers simply seem to have a problem with keeping their bedrooms organized. If you are searching for ways to inspire your child to keep his or her room neat and tidy, here are some tips you will be able to use that could help. Evaluating the Issue Rather than just jumping to conclusions that your child simply isn't trying to keep his or her room clean, it may be helpful to very carefully examine the circumstances. Sometimes the best places for storage are simply hard for the kid to get to, especially if they're young or small. There are also times where the problem is the amount of storage your child has got, or the kind of storage. For instance, a teenage girl might need more closet space to hang up her expanding clothing collection. Or perhaps the issue isn't storage for clothes but for other things such as hobbies and sporting equipment. Knowing what your child needs to store may help you better optimize the closet and storage space in their room. Taking Advantage of Storage Space It is normally fairly easy and not very expensive to solve the problem once you understand it. Taking away the closet shelf and replacing it with an additional clothes rod can essentially double the closet's clothing storage space. Over-the-door shoe organizers are also a wonderful way to decrease closet clutter. Exchanging a short bookshelf with a full height one can also be a good way to effortlessly increase a room's storage space. By putting colorful boxes and bins on the shelves, your kid will have additional storage space they can make use of. If your child is quite little, it is often less difficult to use low shelves rather than a toy box for keeping toys. Beds with drawers beneath are also a great way to make the most of a room's available storage space. Sometimes you can even change clutter into art for your wall. If your child has piles of drawings lying around, as an example, you might offer them some 8x10 picture frames for presenting these pictures. Aiding Your Child in the Clean Up Process If your child's room is currently a big mess, they may be somewhat overwhelmed when you request that they clean it up. For young children, try making a game out of it. You might help them to count the toys while you pick them up, or just take turns putting them away. Older children will have fun with this process if you help them to think of it as a whole new "room makeover." Let them pick out some brand new accessories for their room, such as some accessories for their desk, an organization unit, or maybe even just some simple black picture frames to help display artwork on their wall. After you put these suggestions in action, you will most likely be surprised to see how well they are able to keep their room clean.
