Living in an apartment is hard. It's true. You have to listen to your neighbors yelling or listening to music really loudly. It's generally a smaller space than you'd like and there's almost always at least one thing wrong or weird about it. For example, in my apartment the closet door jams until you use the Arthur Fonzarelli trick on the side of the door and the toilet will run unless you jiggle the handle. My apartment is also ridiculously far from where I need to be on a daily basis. I guess that's what I get for living in New York City. But the nice thing about apartments is that they can be a little oasis, a place far from the hustle and bustle where you can just relax.No time is that more apparent than near the holidays. For a country bumpkin like me, the city can be an overwhelming sensory experience. The lights and sights and sounds can make your head spin! That's why my apartment is such a great cozy place to be around the holidays.With so much to do over the holidays and so many people coming to visit, it's definitely a time that requires good vacuum cleaners. There are guests coming to visit that are allergic to your two cats and pine needles from your tree and wreath are scattered through the house. Seriously, how did you get pine needles in the shower? Great vacuum accessories will help you get into all the nooks and crannies where the kittens have batted their toys. (Which are also covered in pine needles, of course.)As I mentioned before, apartments are usually really small, so it's a good idea to have small vacuum cleaners in an apartment setting. They're easily stashed away when company comes and so you don't have to look at them in your oasis! Sure, living in New York City is exciting and it has its definite perks. And I obviously love the holidays here. Going to Bryant Park and to Rockafeller Center to see the trees is a highlight of my holiday experience. But after a quick trip to the ever crowded Macy's all I want is to go back to my little holiday hidey-hole and hunker down with my cup of tea and kittens. It never feels overwhelming here. No huge crowds, just me and my best vacuum cleaner to help me celebrate in clean comfort.
