In France they are called, "carte de visite". In English speaking countries they are known as business cards. No matter how you spell or pronounce them, they can be an important tool for sales and marketing. The calling card, as it is also known, has been around for many years, but people still use it. The reason for this is simple, it works. Maybe it is time to take another look at your business card. Your calling card says a great deal about you, and it may be time to get creative. After all, if you have something that sticks in someone's mind, they are more likely to remember you. Try to make your design match your business. For example, you may sell pharmaceutical products. Maybe you could create a design that looks like a packet or bottle of prescription pills. There is no end to what the imagination can come up with, if you turn it loose. Take some time to look at many online samples. Visit a search engine and search for ideas, and you may be surprised at what you come up with. You may not want to copy someone's design, but you can get a good idea of what you want to do. If your business cards are unique, they can be eye catchers. For example, so many cards are even and on center. You may wish to try something that is completely off center. For example, place most of the text toward one corner of the card. Perhaps you would like to make the card appear to be textured or maybe even torn. A good idea for making some effective designs is to invest in some design software. This can give you the chance to experiment with all kinds of shapes and sizes. Good software has a lot of important tools for creating a number of different looks. When you create your own design with an effective software program, you can print out samples. There is no substitute for examining a design up close and in your hands. This can save you a lot of time and money. For example, you may see the perfect design, but after you get the order, they may not look the same in person. If you have ordered several thousand of them, this can be a problem. When you try something that is different, it can get the attention of potential clients or customers. Most calling cards concentrate on one side and one side only. In fact, many of the designs are blank on the back. You have two sides to get the attention of people. Maybe it is time to utilize both sides of the card. If you take it all into careful consideration, you may need to make some changes to your marketing plan. Your business cards or "carte de visite" as they are known in France, may need some redesigning. A calling card can still be an effective marketing tool and if you get creative, they can be more effective. If you cannot think of something, look at samples or consider business card design software.
