With so many home makeover shows on television these days it seems like the new national pastime is redecorating one's space. There are lots of ways to start any re-decoration project, like getting new furniture or renovating. One great way to give your house a makeover is by re-tiling the kitchen and bathroom. The kitchen is often the central room in your house. Getting new ceramic tiles or glass tiles for your kitchen can change the whole aesthetic of the space. Especially if you also get new counter tops or shelves. Think of the tiles as your starting point. The color scheme of glass tiles or ceramic tiles you choose will dictate how the other items in the kitchen should be colored. The way the kitchen is tiled could also be the inspiration for the make-over of the rest of your home. You can get furniture for the living room or dining area that match the color scheme you have built up in your kitchen using glass or ceramic tiles. Don't think that everything should be one color, but try to have an idea of how the colors are going to play off each other as people move through your house into your kitchen. If you really want to get wild you can get different color tiles for your floor and your walls. It's a pretty radical look but having the tile flooring play off the walls can create a really great effect. Beware, however, if you go too wild with your color combinations you could end up with a multi-colored monstrosity. When redoing your bathroom you can either keep it in theme with the rest of your house or you can have completely different ceramic or glass tiles. Since the bathroom is secluded and private it can have its own theme going, it is its own little project. It can also be nice to feel like you are in a completely new space when you open the bathroom door. If you are redoing the bathroom connected to your bedroom with porcelain tiles, or any other sort of tiles, you may want to consider making the bathroom and your bedroom in the same color and design scheme. It makes it feel like your own personal sanctuary in your own home, away from your kids and the hustle and bustle of the kitchen. Whatever you choose just make sure the colors are right for one another. Look at magazines and online for inspiration.
