Having a collection of watches is not something everyone gets into. For most people having a few watches tends to be enough. Perhaps one or two specific dress watches or a couple of more versatile black watches. We never really think of having a wide ranging selection of luxury watches. Partially this aversion probably stems from the high price of the best brand name watches, but also we simply do not have a use for all those time pieces. Still the idea of having a walk in closet's worth of high end watches is quite the fun thing to fantasize about. Collectors of watches tend to pick on a few special brands or models of watches to focus on. Still some people fluctuate wildly in their collections going from beautiful gold and diamond watches to more functional and engineering heavy diver watches. The collections can get a little unwieldy and you wonder if these people ever wear half of the pieces in their collections. Chances are, they do not. Instead they keep these collections as an investment meant to mature and stand as something like a legacy. Looking for particular watch pieces these collectors often have little regard for whether a particular models are men's or women's watches. Getting the right piece is not about putting it on and showing it off. Instead it is about displaying these beautifully crafted luxury watches in cases around their homes as fantastic and valuable pieces of art. The results can often begin to resemble a watch museum, the entire history of telling time right in your home for you and your guests visual appreciation. It is a fun way to explore a very specific craft that has had a profound affect on the history of engineering and style. If you are enthusiastic about watches you are not alone. People all around the world have wild collections of Swiss watches, ceramic watches, women's and men's watches. It is a wild collection to have and a stable investment. The craft and quality of a classic time piece is something that should be appreciated on this level. In a world where borderline hoarders collect everything from baseball cards to decorative thimbles it seems like collecting luxury watches makes more than a lot of sense. These collections are beautiful, valuable and historically significant. It is the sort of cultural artifact collecting that anthropologists will one day drool over. Maybe you should start your collection today.
