If you're like most families, chances are you have a huge collection of both printed as well as non-printed digital pictures. Even though it's great to own a digital camera, it may often create a lot of picture disorder throughout your home. As soon as you've taken a picture, it can be quite difficult to simply delete it. Just erasing a spare picture can be a really difficult thing to do, even when you have other pictures that are similar or look a little better. If you have extra photos lying around on a CD or perhaps in a crate, why don't you use them? There are a lot of fun projects you can make with old photos, such as a unique family photo collage. Picking Your Pictures In most cases, you will not have any issues finding a wide variety of photos to use in your collage. If anything, the difficult part may be deciding between the many pictures you have to pick from. One of the greatest things about digital pictures is that you can print as many duplicates as you'd like. So, if more than one family member decides he or she would like a particular photo, simply print out more copies. There may be times that you determine that it is more cost-effective to have your photos printed at a neighborhood store than it would be to print them out yourself and have to spend money for the ink cartridges and paper. Choosing what your general theme will be is the first step in the task of selecting your pictures. For example, you may want to make a holiday collage made up of photos from holidays in the past. These collages often look great when displayed in picture frames together with the rest of your holiday home décor. Family vacation photos, baby pictures, or school photos may also work well for themed collages. Getting Your Work Area Ready When you have chosen all the photos you want, you may then get started. The very first thing you should try to do is to shield your work surface, unless you don't care if it gets adhesive on it or if it gets scratched. A worn out plastic tablecloth will work great for this purpose. Getting all the items that your family will need to make the picture collages is also a great idea so they will not need to wander all over the place later. Child-safe scissors, rulers, photo-safe glue and double sided adhesive tape can all be handy for this task. This task is also a great opportunity to use any craft paper scraps or other leftover scrapbooking materials you might have. Putting Together The Collage Once you have your work surface protected and your craft materials gathered, it's time to have a good time. Give everybody a sturdy piece of poster board or heavy cardstock to utilize as a base. Since everybody will likely have his or her own idea of what defines "beautiful photo collage art," try not to offer too much creative advice to other members of the family. Instead, simply focus on your artistic creation and let everybody else do their own thing. The end result will be numerous different lovely collages that will be wonderful for using as art in picture frames throughout your house. So you can now start creating that photo collage. You'll love the results when you follow these hints.
