Vehicle Safety Features and Backup Camera Systems

Just about any accessory you could ever imagine has been invented for vehicles. First came the automated windows and cup holders, then came climate control (not just regular air conditioning), then satellite radio. Now there are DVD players for passenger seats. It seems like the list just keeps expanding. And the options are not just for convenience. There are a number of vehicle safety devices that we can thank.

The most commonly mentioned and yet most often ignored is the seat belt. Seat belts keep passengers safely seated during crashes and other extraordinary instances. They reduce the risk of a passenger hitting his head within the vehicle or being thrown from the vehicle. The next are airbags. These inflate to act as cushions for us as a buffer from whatever the vehicle hits. These are often taken for granted but they shouldn't be. They may be the two most basic safety devices in a vehicle but they are very important nonetheless.

Newer inventions include anti-lock braking systems, stability control, and motion sensors. These all control the motion of our vehicle when driving. The brakes allow shorter braking distances on slippery roads and prevent locking and jamming with intermittent use. Stability control senses when a vehicle is in danger of losing control and applies the brakes to direct it in the proper direction. The motion sensors on vehicles now will alert you when a vehicle is too close. These are great safety features for when the car is on the road. They are automated so that you do not need to worry, just drive safely and the car will handle the rest.

And, one of the absolute best safety features you can have installed in a vehicle is the backup camera system. This device gives you a full range of visibility behind your vehicle. It is an easy way to stay aware of what is going on behind your car whenever you are backing out. Using a small camera that attaches to the back of the vehicle either near the plates or the top of the vehicle, and a monitor the backup camera system is a fool-proof visual assistant. You no longer need to worry about blind spots or bad sight at night. They not only cover distances of 20 feet or more, they also come with night vision capabilities.

Cars are becoming more and more wonderful thanks to new advances being introduced. If you want to keep yourself and others safe when driving, then you should definitely take the time to review and use these features. They are only there for your benefit. If your car does not feature one or more of these, then it may be time to get them installed.
