Many of today's modern couples choose to use nannies to help them supervise their children. These child care providers often live with a family and take part in their everyday lives. They take vacations with the family and stand in for the parents when the parents are out of town or busy with their careers. Because these providers are employed in a supervisory capacity, many duties come with a nanny job. These employees are entrusted with every welfare aspect of the family's children. Being employed in this position demands more than a typical babysitter's position does. Nannies are with the children all day, sometimes for days at a time. Their duties begin when they wake up in the morning and end when they go to bed. Babysitters often only spend a few hours with a family's kids. Nannies, on the other hand, are not dismissed during the day sometimes. They are responsible for getting the kids up in the morning, getting them to school, and then getting them to bed that evening. Even more, if the family includes a baby, the child care provider is generally expected to bathe, feed, clothe, and care for the child throughout the day. Some parents may check in during work or when they are on a break. However, when the parents are absent, nannies act in place of the parents. They may need to know how to prepare formula, treat diaper rash, and take care of medical emergencies when the baby's parents are not there. Likewise, the older children often depend on their provider to care for daily necessities. These may include being fed their meals, having their laundry done, being helped with homework, taken to the dentist or doctor, and being driven to sports or dance practices. Because parents may work odd hours or be gone for long periods of time, they rely on this provider to take their place in these ordinary activities. Because nannies regularly spend a lot of time with the kids, they may become emotionally attached to them. This affinity for the kids helps nannies become effective caretakers. However, they are often advised from becoming too emotionally attached to the family in the event that the family no longer needs their nanny services in the future. If the caretaker has too much of an emotional tie to the kids, in particular, he or she may find it difficult to think about finding nanny jobs. Nannies are advised to remain professional at all times. These providers are also advised to remember that it is their duty not to attempt to place themselves higher than the parents. They are encouraged to remember that they are employees and not the primary provider for the children. Their first obligation is to their employer, the children's parents. Remembering this fact may help them perform their tasks better. Many duties go along with having a nanny job. These child care providers often have greater responsibility than babysitters do. They also stand the risk of becoming attached to the children in their care. They might be advised to remain professional at all times.
