Visiting New York City during the last month of autumn can be one of the most magical times to be in the big city. It's the time for big events and holidays and lots of great shopping. It's also slowly getting into Christmas time and you can feel it already in November around the Big Apple. There's a reason why people say "Christmas time in the city", that everyone immediately thinks of New York. When you stay in your hotel in Brooklyn this November, consider what special seasonal events are going on. Of course, the biggest event of all is Macy's Thanksgiving Parade. A time honored tradition and broadcast nationally every year, the parade makes it's way through the main hub of Manhattan with marching bands, dancers, performers, and let's not forget, giant balloons! It's seriously amazing to see in person and something everyone should do once in their lives. And at the end of the parade is Santa himself, letting everyone know it's truly Christmas season. Of course, the cooler weather also means lots of fun activities like ice skating. Skating rinks open up all over the city at this time of year in several of it's parks. The most famous location is Rockefeller Center, below the Christmas tree they put up every year. But to beat crowds and find a place more quiet, try Central Park, Bryant Park, or even the indoor rink at Chelsea Piers. They all are just as fun experiences. You can also consider shopping to be part of your Brooklyn hotel stay and trip because there's no better time to go holiday shopping and no better place. Just waltzing down 5th avenue you'll be amazed by the window displays you find it all the big stores. And you'll find everything you need for everyone in New York City, especially because it's the time of year that the outdoor holiday markets take over various parks in the city, with booths run by private crafters and small store owners, selling amazing trinkets and gifts. You'll just want to make sure to pack an extra bag so you can get all that stuff back home. So when you check in at your hotel in Brooklyn, prepare your days for some exciting fall/early winter activities. You won't experience anything like this anywhere else but New York City, so you certainly can't miss out. It's a great time of year to be in the city that never sleeps.
