Classic Kids Board Games Every Household Should Have

When you were growing up as a kid, there were plenty of kids board games you had in stock in your closet or attic. They were some of your favorites and you want your kids to have the same. While a lot of the new board games that have come out recently are a ton of fun and very educational, there's nothing that beats out the classics we all know. And if you don't currently have them in your household, you should!

Two of the most classic of kids board games that are also greatly loved by adults are Monopoly and Clue. While Monopoly itself may be a little harder for the little ones, there's the great alternative of Monopoly Jr. which is a lot less complicated for the little minds. The game is all about knowing how to spend your money, acquiring property, and edging out the other players by causing them to go bankrupt. The great thing about a game of Monopoly is it can be played for hours, sometimes even days. Clue is another great board game that's been around for decades, making your kids think while they try to solve the whodunnit! It helps older children learn how to deduce the results of something based on the information given, to carefully look over what they know to try to figure out what they don't know for sure.

Parcheesi is another game that's been around for many years. In fact, the game was created in India and may date back as far as 500 A.D. That's an incredibly long time ago and yet the game is still a ton of fun! A more modern (by relation, anyway) take on it is Sorry!, which was created in 1934. Still an old one but a game every kid knows well.

For more of an interactive game, a newer classic is Buzzword. It really works the brain as you are given a buzz word, a word that will be in every answer to 10 clues that your team gets. It's a great competitive game, can accommodate large amounts of players and is really great for kids of all ages.

So the next time you check out kids board games, look at some of these classics. And if you already have them in your household, then a few new board games would be a great addition as well! They truly are a toy that doesn't get old, even as you age yourself.
