The Importance of Authorized Sellers For Professional Camera Equipment

Savvy consumers put in ample time and research to find the best deals on products, whether that be in store or online. They clip coupons (or search for online versions), they check with multiple stores, hunt down sites with free shipping, and read countless customer reviews before swiping that credit card. And for all their hard efforts, they usually walk away with top brands and a few extra bucks in their pockets.

But like any good online shopper knows, there are a lot of scams floating around the web. Sometimes items are actually refurbished without clearly stating such or it's actually a knock-off brand, cleverly called the same name minus a letter or two. Like any other electronics, professional photography equipment is not something you want to take a chance on. You need to know that you're purchasing the top brands, like Nikon or Canon, because this is a huge investment. Whether it's your hobby/passion or your actual career, you can't afford to go with cheap brands.

If you don't intend on purchasing from big name retailers, you need to be both wary and smart about the alternate online shops you choose. Always, always purchase from authorized sellers -you'll recognize them by the official seal on the website. An authorized seller guarantees that you are getting the brand and model you see. There are no gimmicks and unless stated otherwise, everything is brand new, sealed in original packaging.

Besides being comforted by the fact you will receive exactly what you wanted, you can also rest assured that the warranty will be not be voided. With non-authorized resellers, the warranty is often limited or sometimes completely void. If you're spending thousands of dollars on a camera, photography lighting, tripods, carrying cases, and other items, you can't afford not to have that warranty. Fixing DSLR cameras is expensive, so why not enjoy a warranty?

Although you can expect lower prices when shopping online, do not expect huge discounts from authorized sellers. The prices are more or less the same as with other major retailers and the manufacturer's price. But keep in mind that you often get what you pay for. If you see a Nikon camera being sold for 50% off, you're probably not going to receive what you wanted or it will break in about a month. Don't fall for bait and switch tactics.

Professional camera equipment is an investment and you should expect to pay for such. Stick with authorized dealers and know that you are getting the quality you deserve, and that you paid for!
