Why We Double Bag Die Cut Bags

[Valid RSS feed]  Category Rss Feed - http://www.nextlevelarticles.com/rss.php?rss=92
By : Mark Etinger

There are so many kinds of plastic bags. The first ones that come to mind are the printed plastic bags we find in the supermarket when they ask us if we want paper or plastic. I used to always prefer plastic, but I wondered why the grocers double bagged. Isn't that wasteful, I thought? I mean sure, the bag can rip, but like what are the chances of that? Wouldn't you know, couldn't you spot it before it begins? And so to try to conserve I always single bagged the lightest groceries.

But one day when I was walking up my street the bag split and my groceries, my apples and oranges and worst of all, my eggs spilled out and crashed to the ground and there was yolk dripping everywhere and I thought about how this is my worst supermarket dream come true, like when you get home and look at your eggs and realize that you forgot to check them while you were in the store and almost half of them are cracked and you can't use them and you think about taking them back but the hassle and the probability of them saying well you should've checked before you bought them is (in your mind) so great you decide to forget about it, or when you get bad fruit and you take a bite into it and you realize you can't even eat it it's so bad, and you sure can't take that back either because like that Seinfeld episode when Kramer gets the bad fruit and tries taking it back and gets banned, shopping for fruit is a give and take, it's all there and it's up to you to sort through the good and the bad and if you aren't paying attention and get the bad, then it's your own fault and you're to blame.

So I gathered up my broken eggs and my dented apples that had rolled off the curb and like a hobo gathering his few possessions in his arms, trudged up the front steps of my home, regretful that I hadn't simply double bagged, hadn't taken advantage of the plastic bag insurance that was free, and resolved that next time, and every time thereafter I would always double bag.

Those die cut bags are my favorite, now that I know how to use them properly. And now I always check my eggs too.
