Achieve Feng Shui With Sofa Sets In The Living Room

The goal of feng shui is to create peace and harmony in the room. It is about letting in positive energy to achieve a comfortable, happy home. Some people take this to the extreme, but essentially, feng shui is just about having a setup that flows naturally. When you read about feng shui, the concept is actually very practical!

Ample lighting is another basic quality of feng shui. Floor lamps and table lamps will promote harmony. As with any room in the house, the living room should be neat, clean, and free of clutter. After the bedroom, the living room is actually a very important room because it's where you entertain guests and where the family spends the most time together.

Sofa sets, couches, and chairs should all be facing the door and never in front of a window. No furniture should really ever block a window because it is a source of chi, or energy. If the living room doubles as the family room, all electronics should be placed in entertainment centers. More specifically, the entertainment centers should have doors to close off the television, separating the two functions of the room. Have a fireplace? It should be the focal point of the room because it enhances happy living. And, any good interior designer will tell you to make it the focal point too!

The living room should reflect this balance that is represented in the yin yang symbol. Have both light and dark colors in the room, as well as horizontally and vertically placed items. Have a balance of both high and low furniture -a low coffee table set on one side and a console table on the other.

Artwork is also an important element throughout the home. Artwork should always promote happiness and a feeling of energy. Hang a family photo on the east wall to promote togetherness and a picture of a body of water on the north wall to enhance your career advancement; viewing uplifting photographs and artwork will make you smile each time you see them.

Mirrors, too, are great for chi, but there are several rules about them. Never place a mirror opposite the door. It is believed the chi will escape through it. Also, never have a mirror reflect a bathroom, kitchen, or staircase.

You don't to go crazy buying specific sofa sets or coffee tables, but if you take the time to follow some of these simple rules, you'll be surprised how good the living room will feel.
