High Quality Watches and Replacing Bands

When it comes to changing the bands on your watch, you want to make sure you do it correctly, especially with high quality watches. It is a good, simple way to prolong the life on a watch. Sometimes the case is just fine but the band gets worn a lot quicker. By replacing them once they have gone through wear and tear, you can have a watch that will keep going even longer instead of just replacing it with other brand name watches.

If your watch uses a leather band, you can easily replace it yourself without having to go to a jeweler. You'll want to place your high quality watches on a cloth before doing any work, to prevent scratches from the table you are working on. A bracelet holder can help stabilize the watch, if you feel like you aren't that great holding it still yourself. A spring bar tool can be used, which is probably the easiest item for the process. You want to place the forked end between the watch band and case lug of your brand name watches. The point is to try and catch the shoulder of the spring bar. Now you just have to push down toward the band and away from the lug, until the spring bar is removed from the watch case lug. Repeat the process on the other side.

Now you are ready to install your new band. When choosing a band, make sure it is a good fit for your wrist, not too tight and not so loose that it will fall off. Take your new band and insert the spring bar into the case end of the band. Insert one end of the spring bar, the bottom end, into the pinhole of the case lug. Then you can maneuver the band spring bar (using the spring bar tool helps with this tremendously) so that it lines up with the pinhole on the other lug.

Repeat the same process on the other side of your watch case. Then you can try out the new band on your high quality watches' case, and see how it fits. You'll also have the sense of accomplishment that you did it yourself without need to go to a watcher or jeweler. It's actually a great skill to have as, if a band ever comes detached, you'll easily be able to fix it. Just don't let your friends know or they may all ask you to change bands for them!
