When it comes to your laminated films and other packaging product, you need to think about what is going to be placed on them. You need to worry about two things; establishing brand identity with your logo and style, as well as having all the right information on each package for your customers. Especially if this is your first time mass packaging items or maybe if you are changing your design, there's a lot to keep in mind. It's not as easy as wrapping a candy bar and calling it a day.
Considering what kind of product you are packaging and who your target is, you'll want to think about how to design your logo. Choosing colors and design is really important in order to appeal to the average shopper. If it's a power bar wrapper aimed at those who are particularly active, you may want a design of people working out or going for a run, or any other sort of activity that would get those kinds of people to pick it up and really take a look. It'll also get people to subconsciously associate your product with fitness.
Where as if you are dealing with food packaging for kids snacks, you want bright colors and maybe an animal mascot to really attract the child, not the adult. You want bold packaging that shows your brand identity as being one of fun and excitement.
Of course, once your colors and logo and product name are all picked out, you need to start to worry about information provided on the package. You need to figure out how much space you have for nutritional information and ingredients. You especially need to list if anything in your product is a food that people are commonly allergic to. You don't want to get into trouble because people starting having health issues because you didn't declare your product as having peanuts in it, or having been made in a factory where it may have had contact with nuts. All of this is extremely important. You'll also want to provide a comments and questions phone number, in case any customers should have a need to contact your company. If you have the space, other information like a website or mailing address is great too.
Space, of course, is the last thing you need to take into account. How can everything you need on the flexible packaging be placed there without being cluttered? You want everything to be legible and not overwhelming. When you work with a packaging corporation to figure out your package look, they can help work with you for the best layout.
