It's October and in New York City, that means a lot of fun places to experience for one of the most fun holidays around; Halloween. When you check in to your Brooklyn hotel, you'll be sure to see decorations everywhere because this is one of the holidays New York City truly embraces! It's a fun time to dress up, get scared, and eat lots and lots of candy. For your visit, keep in mind there are a few different kinds of experiences to be had. For the thrill seekers, there are multiple haunted houses in Manhattan. For the more traditional kind, you may want to check out Blood Manor. Located downtown, Blood Manor has the typical room after room of various themes and big scares! Whether it's vampires that unnerve you or creepy clowns, you'll definitely jump heading through there. If you want a more theatrical experience, Nightmare: New York goes all out with a different overall theme each year. This year's is "Fairytales", putting a frightening twist on the fairytales we all grew up with as kids. Neither of these attractions are for the little ones, so it'd be best to let them wander with another adult while you check these places out. For more kid oriented fun, there's always Central Park. An easy train ride from your Brooklyn hotel, Central Park hosts fun activities like crafts, pumpkin carving and bobbing for apples. Kids are welcome and encouraged to come, making it a really family friendly experience. On the actual night of Halloween, New York hosts a huge and lavish parade down 6th avenue in Greenwich Village. Not only are there big groups of talented individuals and make-up artists and more in the parade, but they also encourage the general public to join as well. And you'll see hundreds of people dressed up just watching the parade. It is the place to be in NYC on the night of All Hallow's Eve. Of course, it doesn't end there because this is the city that doesn't sleep. Afterwards, many clubs and bars host Halloween costume parties until the wee hours of the morning. Many celebrities host their own Halloween parties at clubs in Manhattan, so be sure to check ahead of time for ticket availability and prices. You never know what big star in full costume you could be rubbing shoulders with. New York City is a fantastic place to be on Halloween with so much to do throughout the entire month of October. Be sure to check in with the front desk of your Brooklyn hotel to see if they know of any other events in the area during your stay.
