IVF has a good success rate for women who are unable to get pregnant naturally, and you may find that IVF is the solution to help you conceive. Many women opt for IVF pregnancy as the means of finally having the beautiful baby they have always dreamed of, but they often jump into it without knowing what the full process entails. In order to help you understand what the entire IVF process requires from you, you will need to understand how the IVF pregnancy process works. The purpose of in vitro fertilization is to help the sperm and eggs combine when they are unable to do so in the womb naturally. This could be caused by infertility of either the man or woman, inhospitable conditions in the uterus, PCOS, or some other reproductive disorder. There are many things that can hinder a woman from getting pregnant, and IVF is designed to increase a woman's chances of conceiving. The IVF process is fairly straightforward: The eggs are extracted from the ovaries. The eggs are combined with the sperm. The combined eggs and sperm are placed in an incubator to encourage their growth. 3 to 5 days after the eggs and sperm are combined, the embryos are implanted in the woman's uterus. It is important to get plenty of rest once the implantation is complete. Resting ensures that the embryos have a better chance of taking to the uterus, which is vital for the IVF to result in pregnancy. Once the pregnancy with IVF is confirmed, your doctor may recommend that you continue taking progesterone. Your doctor will use blood tests as a means of determining if you are pregnant, and ultrasounds will also be used. The blood tests will monitor the rise of the HCG hormone, as HCG levels that are too high could be a sign that you are pregnant with multiple embryos. Another thing that doctors watch out for once the pregnancy with IVF actually takes is the estrogen levels. If there is too much estrogen, it could be an indication that ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome, or OHSS, is happening inside the body. OHSS is when the body produces more eggs than the ovaries can accommodate, meaning that they get swollen and very painful. OHSS is fairly common with IVF pregnancies, and it is important to monitor your body carefully to determine if there are any symptoms of IVF. You may feel pain or bloating in your abdomen, and this pain takes between a few days and a few weeks to dissipate completely. Make sure that your doctor knows of any pains or possible complications, as this will help the doctor to keep a close eye on your body to avoid any serious complications that could lead to a miscarriage.
