Preparing for river rafting is really fun and exciting. There's so much to do and prepare for. It's especially exciting if you'll be doing an overnight trip. While many river rafting experiences can be done in just a day, it's really fun to go out there for a whole weekend and take on whitewater rafting as well as experience camping. There are a few ways you can prepare for river rafting overnight trips. First of all, you need to make sure you have all your river rafting overnight gear. This includes a place to sleep, so you'll need a tent, sleeping bag or air mattress, and pillow. As for clothing, you'll want an extra pair of shoes or sneakers, a couple of pairs of socks, 2 or 3 t-shirts, a pair of long pants to wear in camp and to keep you from getting bit by bugs, and a bathing suit in case you just want to go for a swim. You want to make sure you pack lightly, no more than 25lbs. Everything should fit in a backpack or soft bags, you don't want to take any hard luggage with you. You'll also want to prepare with any first aid you think you may need; bandages, anti-itch cream for bug bites, Neosporin and gauze. You never know what might happen accidently out there in the woods so it's always good to be prepared. Make sure you come into a river rafting trip having read any materials given to you as well as listened fully to instructions from your guide. You have to be open to learning and listening as they explain everything you need to know in order to man a raft. You should also be prepared to meet new people. Unless you are going with a fairly large group of friends or family members, chances are you'll be in camp and on a raft with a bunch of strangers. Be open to the possibility of meeting new people and possibly making new friends. You all have to work together when you are out on the river so go out there with an open mind. River rafting is even more fun when you can spare more than one day to it and can get the thrill of camping added to the experience. You'll really get to experience the area you trip in as a whole, not with just its rivers but its land as well!
