Buying a gift for any one can become a chore when you are not totally in tune with what that person owns or what they are into. There is simply very few general gifts that will not go to waste. Chocolate is old news, considering everyone and their brother is getting healthy. Wine and liquor used to be good but if you are headed to a party it is likely those two items are already well trotted territory. When buying a gift for someone the reaction you want is "nifty!" You want to see someone's face light up and let them get either something they have always wanted or something they never realized they might want. It is with that in mind that I go out and buy any person I am not fully certain about Nikon digital SLR cameras. These are gifts that go a long way. People love to be able to take photos efficiently and easily. Even the least accomplished photographer you have ever met will find new Nikon cameras easy to use, and fun. Fun! That is not something you hear from adults receiving gifts very often. Instead you hear words like "delicious" and "practical." Well with Nikon compact digital cameras you get the reasonableness of "practical," the thrill of fun and none of the calories of "delicious." It is clearly the perfect gift. The next question of course is price. You might be thinking that a compact piece of electronic equipment is going to run you a fortune, but you would be wrong. Cheap SLR digital cameras are everywhere these days and are relatively inexpensive. You can get even the best SLR digital cameras for a fraction of what photography equipment used to cost. On top of that they are a gift that will likely keep giving and therefore keep reminding that special guy or girl about what a thoughtful and awesome gift you gave them. That could buy you some time before you once again have to consider what to buy at a party. Gift giving is a skill and not all of us have it. I myself have struggled to find the right items for a wide variety of friends and family for many years. When I buy SLR digital cameras I am confident in the fantastic gift choice I have just made. The reactions upon opening are rarely without an exclamation of "neat!"
