The type of silicone hydrogel used can vary which means some contact are approved for continuous wear for certain periods of time such as 7 days, 14 days, or 30 days. It is vital that you wear the lenses for the time period specified to avoid eye health problems and the lenses remain comfortable to wear. The extended wear contact lenses available today are disposable. When it is time to replace them, a sterile pair of contact lenses is used. This helps to avoid eye infections caused by the accumulation of debris and bacteria. Your optician will be able to tell you if extended wear contact lenses are right for you.
