I've done a lot in my lifetime. Used to be, when I was a young man, I thought I wouldn't mind dying young. But when I reached twenty-five or thirty, I began to understand that life is important and it's good to life as much of it as you can. That was about the time I was married to my wife, who recently passed away, and it was also about the time I decided to have children to carry on my line.
Quality of life can be relative. Some would say it's not worth living if they can't eat whenever they wanted. Others would say it's not worth living if you can't speak and you have to communicate by blinking your eyes, which I am more closely in line with. I've got to admit it was hard at first getting older. My back pain was one thing and then I started needing incontinence products. It was embarrassing at first. But then I began to remember what I realized when I was a young man, that life is always worth living no matter how bad it seems. Because ultimately it's never that bad, and people who think it is are being short-sighted or are depressed and suicidal. Think about all the stars in the sky and the many galaxies out there, and then think about how it was last time you went grocery shopping and forgot the butter. Wasn't so bad then, was it?
That's what I remind myself when I put on Attends adult diapers. It's not as easy as being a young man, and being able to do whatever I want whenever, but I've lived that part of my life. I can accept using Attends adult diapers because not many people get to live into their eighties. I'm lucky to still be alive. I've seen a lot in my life, fought in a war, had three children, been to thirty different countries. Now I'm old and I'm still living every minute of it. Life is good, as long as you can appreciate it. Sometimes it takes some distance to remember how things go up and down, but when you can see it from a different perspective, it starts to look better.
