No matter what part of the country you live in, it always seems that we never have enough space in our homes. Or maybe we just accumulate to much "stuff" that we quickly outgrow the room. Either way, we learn how to utilize every inch of space possible. We try to figure out the best storage solutions so our rooms never feel cluttered and claustrophobic. This holds true for our children's rooms which quite possibly have more items than us. Not only do they have an ever-growing amount of clothing, they have books, DVDs, toys, stuffed animals, and more electronic devices than Best Buy. It's simpler than you think to maximize both space and storage in your child's room, especially if you opt for custom beds for kids instead. Custom beds may be more money but they are specifically designed with the room in mind. There is no need to worry that the bed won't fit in the corner you want or that it will get in the way of the desk. The best way to save space is to choose pieces of furniture that are multifunctional. Don't just choose a plain loft bed, instead find loft beds with storage. There can be plenty of drawers and shelves located on both sides so you can eliminate the need for extra armoires and dressers. Even if you need a bunk bed for two children, there can still be storage solutions on either side. Granted it won't be as much, but every little bit helps! When I was younger, I had no real need for a desk. But today, every child owns a computer and wants a private space to call his own. Desks can often be combined with loft beds or placed directly underneath. This will allow for more room along the walls and in the center of the room. Desks can provide even more storage space, especially if they have shelves or a hutch located above. This can be the perfect spot to display books and other décor. Parents often forget about the space on the walls themselves. When there isn't enough room on the floor, look up to the walls! Floating shelves and units are the perfect spots to clear the clutter from the floor. However you might be somewhat limited by height since your children are only so tall. Make sure everyday items they use are easily reachable. Decorative pieces are okay to be placed higher up on the wall. Parents can become savvy shoppers and decorators when they learn what they should be looking for in modern childrens furniture. Always have storage and function in mind before buying.
