Last spring, my wife and I decided to get new furniture for our home. We went to the store and chose new couches and tables. It was a complete re-furnishing of our house and something we had been planning it for a long time; our house was going to look completely different. It was expensive, but we thought it was worth it. Before the new furniture could arrive, however, there was the matter of furniture removal. We had a lot of heavy stuff that needed to be moved out. I was not exactly sure what to do with the old furniture. I could not tell what needed to go to the dump and what could be donated or recycled. My wife told me to call a professional junk removal service, but I stubbornly thought I could do it myself. I really wanted to save money after the costly re-furnishing. As it turns out my stubbornness lead to disaster. As me and my son where moving a sofa down a flight of stars I slipped and took out my back. The couch fell forward and shattered the railing of the staircase. I guess maybe I should have called a professional junk removal service to deal with my carting needs. My wife was furious; she still brings it up when she is angry. The irony here was that not calling experienced junk removal personnel to save money lead to a costly doctor's visit and home repair bill. I was in pain for weeks after the accident and frankly, it was embarrassing to tell people how I injured myself. We also needed to replace the entire stair railing. We wanted to change the interior of our home, but we got much more than we bargained for. When we finally did called someone to do the furniture removal for us, it was way more affordable than I thought it would be. They came over that day and got all the old furniture out of our place. They also knew exactly what to do with everything. The pieces that could be donated were taken to our local Goodwill and the rest were taken to the dump. My neighbor was recently telling me that he and his wife wanted to get some new furniture for their place. I warned him, when it comes to junk hauling, leave it to the professionals. Hauling your own furniture is not worth the strain, hassle, and risk.
