Basic Design Trends With Wall Picture Frames

Decorating the home is mostly a challenge because we do not know how exactly to incorporate and complement design rules, not because there is no vision or cohesion to our inspiration. Wall décor can make or break a room. It needs to be interesting and balanced, and it can be done simply by following certain fundamentals.

If you want to experiment with wall décor it is easier to begin in a room that already has inspiration from which you can draw. A blank canvas is not going to be the best way to learn. Take the pictures, artwork, and photography you own and simply place it in the room you want to hang it. Even if all you are doing is laying it out on a table or leaning it against a wall, it will give you a feel for what pieces fit and what pieces are not appropriate for the ambiance. Be sure to get some variety in type and size when finalizing your art piece decisions.

Next is selecting their mounting and framing. Wooden picture frames look elegant when matched to wooden furniture within the room. You can find them stained or painted to just about any shade you desire. Some design favorites are deep mahogany, cherry oak, and walnut. However, if you want you can get frames with gold or silver detailing for rooms not featuring wood furniture.

Once you have selected the wall picture frames in which to place them, it is time to arrange them. Long hallways or corridors may feature wall picture frames in a line organizational pattern. Staircases feature them in a diagonal pattern. These are minimalist and simple ways to keep pictures level. However, in rooms you will probably want something a bit more intriguing and visually stimulating. Parallel lines follow suit with the horizontal line patterns by layering pictures, creating a sort of basic collage.

Should you have any frames of an odd shape, such as oval or circular wood picture frames, then it is best to try an eclectic approach to wall décor. Avoid distinction between lines and instead find a piece to be the focus or center of the wall collage. Create pattern around it using the remaining pieces. These look nice over mantles and fireplaces.

Try and mix and match approaches room by room. Connecting rooms obviously need continuity but you can switch up the patterns for places that are not within the same line of sight. Get creative and have fun. The most important thing at the end of the day is that you enjoyed your time hanging these wall picture frames and that you are satisfied with your hard work.
