Top Themed Restaurants a Subway Ride Away From Your Brooklyn Hotel

When it comes to New York City, everything is done big. Broadway shows, museums, stores (look at Macy's!) and even restaurants. There are a lot of great themed hotels just a short ride away from your Brooklyn hotel that are great for families and adult parties alike! If you know where to go, you can get a dining experience that is out of this world, literally, or spookier than your house's attic at night.

One of the most popular themed restaurants is Jekyll & Hyde. Based on yes, the fictional character of the very same name, it's a multi-story restaurant located in midtown with each level themed as part of Dr. Jekyll's mansion. The grand salon, the library, the laboratory and the attic all have unique theming and characters to interact with. Even your waiter is part of the show. And you never know what objects around you may come to life as you are dining! It's definitely a fun experience for anyone who likes the classic story or horror in general, but it's definitely not so scary that the kids won't want to go.

If you are looking for something a little more alien, Mars 2012 is a great choice, especially for kids. On West 51st and Broadway, the restaurant invites you to travel from your Brooklyn hotel and to dine on Mars, with interestingly named dishes, and just as interesting aliens moving about. But before you land on Mars you have to take a ship there! There's a fun 3D motion ride that simulates your journey to the red planet, but it can be easily passed if you or someone in your party isn't particularly crazy about moving rides.

Right across the street is another fun themed restaurant, Ellen's Stardust Diner. When you step into this diner, you are transported back to the 50s! With poodle skirts abound, your servers are actually performers as well, singing songs from the 50s that grandma and grandpa will remember, and the kids will love. The food is burgers and shakes, just as any 50s diner should serve, and the staff really goes all out to make you feel like you went back in time.

Lastly, and a great choice for adults, is Ninja New York. Ninja is located in the Soho neighborhood just off of Chambers street. That's a very short distance from your Brooklyn hotel stay. You enter the dark world of feudal Japan, where you can enjoy sushi and other Japanese cuisine all while being entertained and scared by the ninjas that surround you everywhere. This may be a bit better for the older group rather than the kids as the waiters DO jump out and scare patrons. So unless your child is a brave one, you may want to be wary! You may even see an awesome ninja magic show if you are lucky.
