Self Storage For A Mountain Of Wedding Gifts

After my sister's wedding over a year and a half ago, my parents were still storing a good portion of their wedding gifts. They currently live in a small basement apartment and just simply do not have the room for twelve fine china place settings. What newlywed couple does? My parents were kind enough to keep the mountain of boxes, but a year later they had enough. My sister was forced to either make room in her small place or rent a storage unit.

This scenario is probably similar to many newlywed couples. You spent quite some time saving up money just for the wedding so it's highly unlikely that you'll be able to afford purchasing a house right away. The wedding was the first hurdle and now becoming homeowners is the second. Storage units can be purchased for a very affordable rates and come in several different sizes. There is no need to worry about paying extra for a giant unit you won't use. Set aside the items that you plan on using immediately, like perhaps the new microwave or flatware. The fine china will probably never get used until you can move into a home with a large enough dining room for entertaining. So there is really no need to store it in your home. It's just going to remain in boxes.

If you're like my sister and her husband, they were already living together before the wedding so they had most of their "essentials" like a blender, a coffee maker, everyday dinnerware, etc. But they chose to ask for "bigger and better" models and brands of the many items they already owned. Again, this was yet another reason to store the new gifts. They weren't just going to throw away their dishes! Self storage made the most sense for these items too. When they finally move into a home, they can have all the room for two sets of dinnerware and bigger kitchen appliances.

Climate controlled storage can make storing your items even safer because there is no fear about damage due to temperature fluctuations. Choose a storage company that can meet your specific needs and stop living a life of clutter. It's exciting to receive new gifts but we can't use the new until we rid ourselves of the old. Perhaps you want to start using your new items right away. In that case, use a storage unit for all your older items that you can't part with just yet.

Whatever you decide to do, self storage is the perfect solution to a new couple up to their necks in beautiful new gifts!
