Putting together a library for the whole family is a wonderful way to manage everyone's books. Possessing a library will also emphasize the importance of books for your family, thus enhancing your children's appreciation of reading. From just one bookshelf in your living room area to a whole room or space that you can set aside for the project, building a library in your home is likely to be very advantageous and enjoyable for all concerned. Here are some tips you can use to help create your personal family library. Gathering All of Your Books Together Most frequently, the hardest aspect of assembling your library is bringing together the books from the whole family. It often takes a bit of effort to get everyone's books together, simply because most members of the family store them in many places around the house. Collecting all of your books beforehand is important, since the number of books you own will determine the amount of shelf space you will require. Ask everyone in the family to bring all of their books to a central place, even if they are currently reading them. When all the books are gathered together, it will be easier to figure out the greatest way to present them. Categorizing Your Collection There's really no right or wrong method by which to categorize your books. As an illustration, some families enjoy sorting their books in alphabetical order, while others favor dividing them by subject or perhaps author. If you are designating a whole room for your library, or at least a good number of bookshelves, you might wish to find some clip art or perhaps pictures that symbolize the different types, and place them in wood picture frames. And then hang them on the shelves or perhaps on a nearby wall, which will allow everyone to see where all of the categories and books can be found. This can be very useful for children's libraries, especially for children who are not really proficient readers. It may even be a good idea to make a completely separate bookshelf for kid's books, for younger children specifically. Or even makes use of the lowest sections of the big shelves for the children's books. Whichever you do, it's always fun to decorate the kid's portion of the library differently from the rest. Acquire photos that are related to reading or themed art that represents a number of your child's most loved books. Then, present in a picture frame and mount on the walls. By making the library colorful and attractive, your child will surely be more interested. Putting the Library into Use Once you have your books in place, you will want to ensure that everyone knows how to make use of the library. If you have gone to a lot of hard work to get the books sorted, you will most likely want to provide the family with instructions on exactly how to keep them that way. You might even want to come up with a few simple rules for how the library should be used. For an added touch of fun, design a library sign using your computer, along with any family rules. Exhibit these signs in picture frames on the library walls, so that the whole family can review the guidelines if necessary. Building a library for the whole entire family will be not only fun, but also educational and not too difficult.
