Our society shifts as time progresses. People of great honor rise and fall. The generations currently being taught will eventually become the next generation's leaders. Throughout the cultural and spiritual changes in our world one thing remains the same: we honor the influential and the gracious. Memorial walls are a common staple in museums, monuments, and other institutions. There is something about having a location to go to for honoring the dead that soothes the memory. But memorial plaques and memorial walls need constant maintenance. Name tags need replacement when they age and the lighting for them needs replacement every few months. What if you could have this board updated so the maintenance is lowered without affecting the visitors. Of course, now that we are comfortably residing in the digital age there are some things that we can do about that. We have found new ways to communicate our prayers and thoughts for both those we admire and those we have lost. The memorial plaques can be fitted with a supercomputer control board. The name tags can be replaced with LED lighting. The automated system is sleek and modern but can be fitted to traditionally decorated walls. New names can be added without physical labor, old name tags do not need replacement. The system can be updated quickly or set automatically when a name is entered. It can be programmed to remember anniversaries. It saves stress for both the institution and the family and friends. It is a blessing that we can put the evolution of technology to another good use. This is one example that displays how the future and the past are ever-connected. Technology is not always a distraction; nor is it a sign that tradition is dying. On the contrary, a lot of the things we modernize are things we intend to keep as part of culture. It's a transition rather than a replacement. It is in our best interest, as well as those we honor, to do everything we can to keep their memory alive for years to come. There is always a way to usher in the future from things we have learned in the past. Would we be honoring these special individuals if they did not remind us that the future is an important thing to embrace? Should you find your memorial wall has suffered the wear of time, it may be an opportunity for progression. As long as the intentions are in the right place, everything will work out.
