LCD Flatscreens For Education?

[Valid RSS feed]  Category Rss Feed - http://www.nextlevelarticles.com/rss.php?rss=32
By : Mark Etinger

Suffice to say, college students now use more technology than ever before. As if that wasn't obvious because of their addictions to social networking, blogging, and web surfing. The way information and entertainment technology is being used is evolving. It can be used for educational purposes just as much as it can for home and business use.

I remember in college that my school had LCD flatscreens installed in classrooms and around campus. It was a big deal. All of a sudden we were getting news updates on campus events, security notices, and other important news broadcast to us. Professors started showing us more educational videos and they could connect all of our computers to the main podium using the right wires. It made keeping up with college life easier and it made the classroom experience much cooler. It also felt more productive than taking notes by hand.

Schools can really benefit from purchasing some discount LCD TVs, internet connecting cables, and other supplies. Inter-connectivity is not only great for expanding knowledge, it is important for safety as well. Imagine a stream of constant contact for educators, parents, and students, using computers, televisions, and cell phones as media. It's the rise of a new age and who are we to ignore it?
And this goes beyond basic education. When schools provide other supplies, like digital SLR cameras, they're encouraging the arts. These can be used for student photo projects, documenting student productions, club events, and other big things. There may be a smaller budget for such programs but there are plenty of quality digital cameras and video cameras on sale that schools can afford to buy in bulk. Schools can also encourage parents by adding these materials to the class syllabus. Technology gets cheaper the longer it is around and becomes affordable for mass consumption.

Having fairly updated technology in the classroom helps those in attendance a sizable amount more than it hurts. Parents and educators alike should invest in technology that promotes education. Desktop computers can store more files than many laptops. If they have fast processors, it's even better. They're good for classrooms and dorm rooms when a lot of schoolwork needs to be saved and a high volume of data must be sent along message boards and email. When you really consider all of the things a school needs to run it's incredible. Having newer gear is definitely a way to stay on the cutting edge of education.
