Pricing Labels Are Important

[Valid RSS feed]  Category Rss Feed - http://www.nextlevelarticles.com/rss.php?rss=24

Prices are changing rapidly and rarely going down. It is not the fault of retailers; it mostly is not even the fault of those making products. Prices go up because the cost of living goes up and the cost of living goes up for dozens of reasons. There is global economic concerns, debt, legislation, gas prices, health care costs, inflation... There is practically nothing an ordinary person can do to stop prices from going up. It is for this reason that I refuse to attempt to buy anything that is currently lacking pricing labels. I simply do not want to be surprised when I go to the counter in a store and bring up an item to purchase. The last thing I want is to feel forced into paying a price I wouldn't expect just because a store is too cheap to purchase pricing guns and pricing labels.

The fact is with prices being how they are you can never really be sure about how much an item in any store is going to cost unless they have pricing labels on them. Anyone who has walked up to a counter assuming something cost a specific amount would be in rare air to have not had at least one occasion where they were disappointed to find out how much that thing actually costs. That moment is strange and potentially embarrassing. I know for me I have often simply deferred and purchased the item anyway, only to be disappointed when I left because perhaps my budget was not prepared for it or I simply thought it might be cheaper elsewhere. In those instances I have carved out a path for myself, avoided any item that lacks clear pricing information.

If I owned a store I would be sure to have a price tagging gun. It is just an old fashioned hallmark of a good business that is honest and giving everyone a fair shake. It is not that I do not understand the troubles of overhead and all the other problems potentially haunting young businesses. It is just that I see a business's job as making its customers more comfortable and pricing labels do just that. In economically uncertain times we are all sort of equals. Whether we be working in retail or just participating in retail we need to look out for each other. There is no reason that I should not immediately know what an item on a shelf costs. If I know, it is likely I'll still buy it. Please though, no surprises.
