Climate Controlled Storage Protects Vintage Items

The 1980s are over. I know, I know, it really is a devastating truth. Some of the best things were thrust upon mankind from the genius minds of 1980s scientists, designers, and innovators. Some highlights include VHS, vinyls, and cassette tapes. These inventions changed the world. They worked well into the 1990s and became even more widely collected. And, as technology progressed even more, they ended up making fantastic wall décor and bookends. They now just take up space. But nostalgia prevents the ultimate destruction of said items. This creates a problem for hoarders and collectors. When there just isn't enough room for the tape and vinyl collection you can turn to climate controlled storage.

Climate controlled storage is really the only safe option for items like this. Vinyls and tapes warp in heat and moisture. They don't age quite as well as the discs we use today for our multimedia. But, in many cases you get qualities you don't otherwise find in modern media formats. The grain quality has a cool vintage look now. The bass qualities are still claimed to be the best on music recorded on vinyl and played on turntables. That's why a storage unit is an ideal location to store them and for their players.

The reason climate control is a necessity when looking for storage units is because they are regulated systematically. Fluctuations from cold to heat can crack or melt plastic casing, and magnetic strips found in VHS and audio cassette tapes can polarize and ruin. They also won't get water damaged like they could in a basement, attic, or garage. Maybe with these things out of the way you can make better use of those spaces than fill them with outdated technology. Supposedly garages are great for protecting cars and attics for holiday decorations.

Climate controlled self storage with 24 hour service is easy to access so you can go back to it whenever you want to take something out of it. Self storage is also great for moving. That way you can get all of your valuables out of your current home and eventually transported to your shiny new one. It's like having your own warehouse but smaller. No longer are the unused nostalgic items lingering in boxes around the house. They can linger in storage units until you decide to sellthem or re-use them to look like a bonafide hipster.
